This year, the Best Doctors in America ® survey announced the top doctors (voted on by their peers) nationally for the 2007- 2008 awards.
Forty-nine of these doctors are affiliated with The University of Toledo and the UT Medical Center.
“They are the gatekeepers of healthcare,” said UT board member George Chapman, at the May 29 reception honoring the physicians.
Awards were given by Dr. Jeffery P. Gold, Health Science Campus provost, executive vice president for health affairs and College of Medicine dean. Each doctor was presented with a certificate, art work by a local artist and a UT lapel pin.
The peer-to-peer survey is particularly significant because the doctors are considered by their fellow physicians to be the most skilled and qualified, according to UT President Dr. Lloyd Jacobs. “They are a surgeon’s surgeon, and a cardiologist’s cardiologist. They are sought out by other physicians,” he said.
